Strengths
My past experiences, interests and hobbies revealed some strong sides of me;
Creativity; My interest in music, photography, video editing and design helped me to be a more creative person.
Ability to learn quickly by myself; I pretty much learned everything by myself from professional computer programs to photography and editing movies.
Marketing base; I tried my best to improve my level of knowledge about marketing. To learn history, improvement stages, dynamics and key factors of marketing I had various sources, such as; studies in university,conferences lectured by the most successful marketing profesionals of Turkey such as Mustafa İçil (Google) , Levent Soygür (Coca-Cola Company) , Mustafa Seçkin (Unilever) , Alpay Alptekin (P&G) , Yalçın Lokmanhekim (Opet) , Rıdvan Uçar (Aygaz) , Özlem Akbayır (AVEA), Alper Kul (Pepsi), books, others’ experiences and real life examples.
Also Seth Godin helped me understand what marketing really is. When I first read “Purple Cow” I was really impressed by the innovative ideas of Mr. Godin that I couldn’t keep myself reading his other books; Permission Marketing, Free Prize Inside, The Big Moo, All Marketers Are Liars, The Dip and Tribes. Fortunately one day, one of my friends offered me something amazing. He sended me an invitation for the Invite-Only web site that is established by Seth Godin himself for a limited number of people; friends and friends of friends of Mr. Godin. Thanks to this opportunity I’m having the chance to write Seth Godin personally time to time which is a great honor for me. I cannot say I dont have Seth Godin’s influence on my ideas about marketing.
Ability to lead; A real life example; in 2008 I recorded, directed and edited a 22 minutes short movie. I led the whole process. I gathered people around a common purpose, turned this purpose into a passion, I communicated with them and provided a platform which they can communicate with each other, I believed and made them believe, I took responsibility on hardest deeds without expecting something in return from them and most importantly I draw a picture of the future for them to believe which gave them a cause to keep going and this picture of future became real because of their trust. I guess that’s why I have what it takes to be a leader in the future.
Knowledge about IT industry; I was interested in computers and technology since I was a kid. I learned to use different professional and complex computer programs and some programming languages by myself. I was also into games. For years I was with the people who are interested in and enthusiast about hardware, software, games and technology which made me understand their needs, wants, expectations. Also due to my interest in computers and technology, I got to know the customers, products, services, positions, rivalry of the companies of the IT industry.
